Working with O'Dell, contractor replaces three (3) air handling units in 8 hours to reduce cost & minimize downtime for their customer.   We also arranged delivery of the units for Saturday AM to avoid disruption to the customer's production schedule.

The Call ...

Dynamic & Proto, a manufacturer of printed circuit boards and electronics has an aging facility. A number of the air handling units supplying ventilation air to the manufacturing plant were beyond repair and required replacement. O'Dell was contacted by a service contractor to review the existing units and provide a quotation for their replacement.

The Solution ...

Working with the contractor, O'Dell provided a solution from  I.C.E. to supply three (3) new air handling units.  All of the units supplied were designed and constructed to sit on the existing roof curbs, effectively minimizing overall project cost & installation time.  schedule.

I.C.E. manufacturers a complete lineup of custom air handling equipment, incorporating stainless steel heat exchangers, direct expansion cooling, and/or hot & chilled water.

The first unit, which replaced an old Airwise MUA, was an I.C.E. GIDM-375 (4,687,500-BTU/HR input), supplying conditioned outside air to the plant. The GIDM unit employs a 409 SS four pass drum & tube heat exchanger (HX) with 10:1 turndown for industrial applications. The large surface area of the HX with respect to heat output maintains reduced operating temperature for extended HX life.

The other two (2) units, which replaced existing Trane units, were I.C.E. MTI-11-300 (300,000-BTU/HR input) with mixing plenum. The MTI unit consists of a 409SS multi-tube inshot style HX with 3:1 turndown, which maintains discharge air temperatures +/-3°F from setpoint. This is an extremely economical & flexible MUA, providing performance equal to much more expensive high turndown equipment.
