Thirty-one Kingsbury Drive in Ktchener, Ontario, is a shell office building built by Schembri Property Management. The consultancy firm of M.A. Bryan Engineering was retained to complete the job.
This five-storey office block has approximately 60,000 square feet of leasable space.
The Challenge
During the construction phase, M.A. Bryan Engineering approached O’Dell to design the air-handling unit. We selected a pair of energy recovery ventilators (ERV) to deliver outdoor air to each floor, as per the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)’s Standard 62 ventilation requirements. The ERVs were to be roof-mounted with post-gas heating.
The O’Dell Solution
Working with Bousquet, O’Dell provided a customized air-handling unit. Considering both cost and efficiency, the energy recovery wheel selection delivers efficiencies of 68.2% for thermal and 78.4% for moisture. The unit was supplied with vital controls for both discharge-air temperature and energy recovery-wheel defrosting.
