Built in 1914, Creelman Hall is located on Trent Lane in the heart of the University of Guelph campus. It serves as the main dining hall for the University of Guelph campus as well as a multipurpose rental venue.
The Challenge
In 2013, this two-storey, 30,334 square-foot building underwent a $4.4-million facelift, which included external improvements and major refurbishments of the dining, servery and kitchen facilities.
The O’Dell Solution
O’Dell Associates teamed up with Spring Air Systems to help design a highly versatile, energy-efficient kitchen ventilation system. The complete kitchen consisted of 11 efficient Dynaflow low-air volume hoods, a Truflow/Zoneflow demand-ventilation panel with two independent exhaust fans and one common make-up air unit.
BACnet communication connects the Truflow/Zonefllow panel to the building management system. The kitchen hoods were designed by food service equipment consultant, LTD Consulting Group Inc.
