To understand the principles of Bi-Polar Ionization (BPI) in nature, its applications and uses in indoor environments, its benefits to occupants in indoor spaces, as well as its overall benefits in improving indoor air quality and indoor environments.
To learn about how to apply BPI within HVAC design, to leverage its benefits to downsize mechanical equipment wherever possible, within Ventilation Code Requirements, and to reduce a building’s energy efficiency and energy footprint.

A look at how we can use evaporative cooling to greatly reduce energy bills in our cold climate. We’ll look at the effect on air-side economizers and how to take full advantage of the cooling effect, as well as the massive reduction in energy use when evaporative technologies are properly applied. Applying technology to save energy and improve indoor air quality to make better buildings!

The Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP) reduces outside air intake, keeping out polluted air, in addition to providing energy and first cost savings. With people spending 90% of their time indoors, indoor air quality has an enormous impact on health. Studies from Harvard, Berkley Labs, NBER and others, show that reducing carbon dioxide levels can increase occupant performance and productivity.

Carlos Gendron is a senior sales, marketing and management executive with over 25 years experience in a variety of enterprise and consumer sectors. With several successful VP of Sales (and Marketing) positions, including a division of Campbell Soup – Pepperidge Farm, Pelham Sloane (specialty PC manufacturer) and a top US environmental services company.

Chris Habets, P.Eng, CEA – Nortec
Chris Habets is a Professional Engineer with a degree in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering from Carleton University, and is a Certified Energy Auditor through AEE. He has worked at Nortec Humidity since 2013, focusing originally on Product Management before moving into his current role in Energy and Sustainability. He focuses on energy analysis for customers in humidification and cooling, and works with energy professionals to reduce energy use throughout the world. He is a member of the Ottawa ASHRAE chapter and the AEE Canada East chapter, and has presented to other local ASHRAE chapters as well as an ASHRAE supplier webinar and an ASHRAE new product presentation on the topics of humidification and evaporative cooling.

Dr. Israel Biran – enVerid
Dr. Israel Biran, Executive Vice President of Sales and Founder at enVerid Systems, is an experienced cleantech and biotechnology executive and entrepreneur. Prior to enVerid, Dr. Biran was the Founder and CEO of Applied Cleantech, a water treatment company with novel technology for recycling waste water solids into alternative energy products including biofuels and electricity. He led the company from the proof of concept stage into product sales in global markets. Before that, Dr. Biran was President and COO of Boston-based Molecular Cytomics Inc. where he successfully commercialized the company’s LiveCell Array technology via ThermoFisher Scientific (NYSE: TMO). He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Tel Aviv University and is the author of numerous patents and scientific papers.
