Smith + Andersen (S+A) and footprint were moving to a new office at 100 Sheppard E., Toronto. Their initiatives for the new space included reduced energy consumption and improve indoor air quality (IAQ) for their employees. These initiatives are also key pillars in the design solutions they deliver to their clients.
O’Dell presented enVerid HLR (HVAC load reduction) air scrubbing technology to the Principals at S+A. Applying enVerid technology with ASHRAE Standard 62 IAQ procedure, both project initiatives could be realized.
- Decreased energy consumption due to reduction in ventilation air
- Improved IAQ through gas-phase filtration that removes all contaminants of concern, including carbon dioxide (CO2)
For further investigation of the technology, we organized a visit to the Morgan Stanley HQ in New York City with an exemplary installation of 40 HLR modules. After thorough consideration, S+A integrated an HLR into the exisiting HVAC system serving their space, becoming the first HLR module installed in Canada.
